LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn spent Saturday and Sunday in Wales, visiting south and north Wales, including stops in Barry, Swansea, Carmarthen, Bangor and Aberconwy.

The campaign stops included a rally in Swansea on Saturday (Dec, 7) where Corbyn set out Labour’s plans for a fairer Britain and his commitment to tidal and other renewable energy through Labour’s Green Industrial Revolution.

Corbyn spoke alongside Welsh Labour Leader and First Minister Mark Drakeford, Deputy Leader Carolyn Harris and Shadow Secretary of State for Wales Christina Rees. The event will include contributions from local Labour candidates. Labour party members were emailed this week and within a few hours the rally was fully subscribed.

To mark Small Business Saturday, Corbyn visited small businesses in Barry with First Minister Mark Drakeford and Carmarthen with candidate Marc Tierney. Labour is on the side of small businesses in Wales and across the UK.

In Wales, the Welsh Labour Government is delivering on its 2016 election promise of a £100m Business Rates tax cut for small businesses. Labour’s announcement of a 20 point policy manifesto for small businesses will see a boost to the support available to small businesses from the Development Bank of Wales.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, said:

“I’m excited to be back in Wales on the last weekend before polling day to bring our message of hope that Labour will build a fairer, more equal society.

“The Welsh Labour Government was the first to declare a climate emergency. It has banned fracking, led the way on recycling and is ready to harness the opportunities Labour’s Green Industrial Revolution will bring to Wales.

“We’re coming together in the Vale of Glamorgan, in Swansea, in Carmarthen, in Bangor and across Wales to make our voices heard this weekend. With just a few days to go, it’s about getting together and making a difference to people’s lives. It’s time to take on the vested interests and end Tory austerity that has held our public services back.

“This election is a once in a generation chance for us. Labour will stop the Tories and deliver the real change our country needs.”
