A 26-year-old Llanelli man has been found guilty of an offence contrary to section 1(1)(a) and (4) of the Malicious Communications Act 1988.
Appearing at Carmarthenshire Magistrates’ Court sitting at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on 26/09 Richard Anthony Coslett of Granby Close in Llanelli was charged with between 01/08 and 31/08 sending an electronic communication, namely ‘text messages’ which conveyed a threat for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety to the recipient or to any other person to whom he intended that it or its contents or nature should be communicated.
Coslett pleaded guilty and was made subject of a 25 day community order and a restraining order whereby he may not Contact his victim directly or indirectly by any means whatsoever save to arrange child contact via a solicitor or social services Enter any part of any premises occupied by his victim for the time being as her usual place of residence. Enter any data or cause or permit any data to be entered on any electronic device, network or the internet that refers directly or by necessary inference to his victim. The order lasts until 25/09/2020.
Coslett was fined £80 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85
