A Llanelli Labour candidate for the Lliedi ward is claiming that children will go without a hot meal at school as a result of a price rise in school dinners across Carmarthenshire. Posting on his Facebook page Rob James wrote: School dinners across Carmarthenshire are set to go up next year and the year after – up 12.5% in just three years.
Many parents will no longer be able to afford to pay for their children to have a hot meal in school, as a result of the increase.
It’s a great shame that the Plaid-Independent coalition voted down Labour’s amendments to the Budget this week that would have frozen prices, stopped cuts to Free School Breakfasts and provided vital funding to tackle school ‘holiday hunger’.
