About Us

Since 2017 we’ve been bringing you the latest news from Llanelli. Hard-hitting journalism and breaking news stories. We keep you in the loop with all the major news and headlines that are focused on life in Llanelli and surrounding areas. Llanelli Online is a Community Interest Company (CIC)

We deliver your news, about your community, to your home, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Llanelli Online uses the latest technology while remaining true to the traditional values of journalism. We have created a hyperlocal news site, which reports exclusively on Llanelli’s news, community  and sporting events, as well as being a portal for you to share what’s important to you. Llanelli Online is a place to see offers and advertisements from businesses in the surrounding areas.

There is a real thirst for local news, told by local people and here at Llanelli Online we believe that we are bucking the trend and catering for a new emerging audience. The site has been listed as a ‘beacon’ for the town by Cardiff University’s Centre for Community Journalism.  As we expand Llanelli Online will  take on graduates in journalism and work with schools and colleges to provide journalists for the future.

Llanelli Online is A Trusted News Source With Trusted Partners

Llanelli Online is regulated by IMPRESS and we have a robust complaints procedure, privacy policy and GDPR policy in place. We are members of the National Union of Journalists and we are fully insured.

The editor is on the advisory board for the Independent Community News Network, which supports hyperlocals across the UK. We have already benefited from training with Google and Facebook using their latest technology and expertise. We will continue to train our staff through agencies like the NUJ, Facebook, Google and the ICNN and adapt to the demands of modern journalism while keeping our roots firmly established in the town we live in and love.

In November 2018 we partnered the BBC Local Democracy Reporter’s Service. The Local Democracy Reporting Service created up to 150 new journalism jobs to help fill a gap in the reporting of local democracy issues across the UK. The journalists are funded by the BBC as part of its latest Charter commitment but employed by regional news organisations. At present 144 Local Democracy Reporters have been allocated to 59 news organisations in England, Scotland and Wales, including Llanelli Online.
