Scarlets’ John Barclay undergoes surgery

SCARLETS forward John Barclay will miss the Pro14 final this Saturday against Leinster at the Aviva Stadium due to injury.

Barclay ruptured his Achilles Tendon in the Guinness PRO14 semi final, against former club Glasgow Warriors, on Friday night at Scotstoun Stadium with the injury requiring surgical repair.

Barclay underwent surgery yesterday, Monday (May 21).

Together with the Scottish Rugby Union and Edinburgh Rugby arrangements have been made for John to begin his recovery and rehabilitation in Edinburgh.

Barclay was captain in last seasons Pro12 final, where the Scarlets eased past Munster 46 – 24. That game was also played in Dublin.

He joined the Welsh region in 2013 and has gone on to make over 100 appearances.
