Sosban restaurant closes its doors

LLANELLI restaurant Sosban has announced that it is to close.

Llanelli Online were contacted by a member of the public today, Monday (Feb 4) who wished to remain anonymous who said that a sign had gone up to announce that the restaurant had closed its doors.

Llanelli Online spoke to a member of staff at the restaurant who confirmed that the restaurant had closed and they said that a notice would be posted on the their website.

Within minutes the following notice appeared:

“Executive Chef Andrew Sheridan and Sosban’s Directors are sorry to announce that we closed on Sunday 3rd February 2019 and we will not be reopening in the near future.

“We would like to thank all our loyal customers and suppliers for the support they have provided us since we opened in July 2011.

“The decision to close has been a very difficult one to make given the considerable effort that has been made over many years, but regrettably, some things are just not meant to be.

“If you have purchased a valid gift voucher from us, then please contact us via email only on and we will get back in touch with you.”

The restaurant was opened in 2011 by former Scarlets and Wales rugby players Stephen Jones and Dwayne Peel along with Eurig Williams.

The business is co-owned by Robert Williams director of Carmarthenshire-based WRW Construction.

Sosban is located in a listed Victorian Pump House in North Dock and Executive Chef, Andrew Sheridan was known for modern takes on British classics.

In 2013, it was crowned as The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for Wales.

In 2014, B9-10 Bar a Caffi was opened in the new Eastgate development in Llanelli, soon afterwards it closed down.
